Because of the change(s), ZERO (0) -WORKING DAYS will be added to the contract timeline. PART I: REPLACE PLAN SHEETS IN SELMA REGION TO REVISE STRUCTURAL SECTION This change was requested by the engineer. In accordance with Section 4-1.05, "Changes and Extra Work," of the Standard Specifications, replace Plan Sheets 3A and 13 with the attached revised Plan Sheets 3B and 13A in the Selma region. These revised plan sheets replace the crack and seat treatment for the existing concrete pavement with the modified rubblization "occasional spalling"; replace the rubberized hot mix asphalt with the conventional hot mix asphalt (HMA); eliminate SAMI (stress absorbing membrane interlayer); and add a 0.12 to 0.15-foot thick HMA leveling course utilizing '/-inch mix for the southbound lanes between sta. 196+91 and sta. 256+81. Perform all work in accordance with the applicable sections of the Standard Specifications, Special Provisions, and the attached rubblization "occasional spalling" Specifications. Use a rubber-tired compactor for seating/rolling efforts required for the rubblization treatment. Compensation for the work associated with rubblization will be made at an agreed unit price of$4.75/SY plus 10-percent mark-ups for the general contractor, according to Section 9-1.03, "Payment Scope," of the Special Provisions. The estimated area for the rubblization treatment is 15,530 SY, resulting in a total compensation of $81,144.25 (includes mark-ups). The additional rolling/seating shall be performed at the agreed price of$3,444 for a total cost of$84,588.25 which will be paid through Bid Item No. 3, Supplemental Work, with no net increase to the contract. Affected quantities of Bid Item Nos. 27, 29, 30, 31, 38, and 161 will be adjusted at the unit bid prices according to Section 9-1.03, "Payment Scope," of the Special Provisions. These revised plan sheets eliminate the SAMI and increase the depth of the cold plane and HMA overlay from 0.25-foot to 0.40 foot between Sierra Street and Mission Street (sta. 12+99 and sta. 51+53). Compensation adjustment for the increased or decreased quantity of pertaining Bid Item Nos. 29, 31, 32, and 38 will be made at the unit bid prices according to Section 9-1.03, "Payment Scope," of the Special Provisions. In accordance with Section 4-1.05, "Changes and Extra Work," of the Standard Specifications, replace Plan Sheets 115A, 116, and 117 with the attached revised sheets 11513, 116A, and 117A in the Fowler region. These revised plan sheets realign several streetlights in the Fowler region which were in conflict with the existing underground utilities. The revisions shown on the revised sheets are blocked out for clarification. These revisions are being made at no additional cost. This change did not impact the critical path for the project, therefore, granting additional contract time was not warranted. TOTAL COST PART IV: $0.00 (NO COST) TOTAL TIME EXTENSION PART IV: ZERO (0) -WORKING DAYS PART V: COMPENSATE THE CONTRACTOR FOR INSTALLING 18-INCH CMP EXTENSIONS IN THE SELMA REGION This compensation adjustment was requested by the contractor. In accordance with Section 4-1.05, "Changes and Extra Work" of the Standard Specifications, compensate the contractor for extending the existing 18-inch CMP, 25 feet to the north and 20 feet to the south, in the median area between sta. 380+00 and sta. 381+00 in the Selma region. This work includes furnishing and installing the 16GA 18-inch galvanized CMP extensions as shown on the plans. Compensation for this work will be made at an agreed Iumpsum price of$12,757.45 according to Section 9-1.03, "Payment Scope," of the project. This amount includes compensation for all labor, equipment, materials, incidentals, markups, and profit for the above referenced work, no additional compensation will be made. This amount will be paid through Bid Item No. 3, Supplemental Work, with no net increase to the contract. This change did not impact the critical path for the project, therefore, granting additional contract time was not warranted. MHB BREAKERS LTD Modified Rubblization Specification February, 2022 Description (1)This section describes modified rubblization and the rolling and seating of existing concrete pavement to create a stable construction platform for a pavement overlay either with or without an intermediate base layer. General (1) Use a self-contained, self-propelled multi-head breaker. Use 10-ton or heavier rollers and roll at 6 feet per second or slower. Run vibratory rollers at an engineer-approved frequency and amplitude.A roller pass is defined as down and back in the same path. (2) Before rubblizing, saw full-depth joints and completely sever load transfer devices to isolate the rub- blized area from areas not to be rubblized. Saw jointed pavements at an existing transverse joint. Do not damage adjacent pavement during rubblization. Repair damage to the adjacent pavement caused by con- tractor operations as the engineer directs. Modified Rubblization (1) Fracture the concrete full-depth and uniformly across the pavement width.The engineer will designate one of the two subcategories of modified rubblization as described below. Modified Rubblization -significant spalling Achieve 12-inch minus size pieces at the surface,significant surface spalling,and a surface appearance that ranges from smooth to pulverized. 75%of the pieces at the bottom of the slab shall be 15-inch minus in size. (3) Do not damage pipes,valve boxes, manholes,and other fixtures. Repair any damage that occurs as the engineer directs. (4) Remove any reinforcing steel exposed at the surface by cutting below the surface and disposing of the steel. Do not remove unexposed reinforcing steel. Rolling/seating (1) Roll the rubblized area using two passes with a vibratory steel roller.The engineer may adjust the number of passes to achieve the desired seating and stability. (2) Remove loose asphaltic patching material,joint fillers,expansion material,or other similar materials from the compacted surface.Also remove pavement or patches that have a maximum dimension greater than or equal to 6 inches that are either not well seated or are projecting more than one inch above the surface. Dispose of removed material. (3) If paving with no intermediate base layer, roll the entire surface additionally, unless the engineer directs or allows otherwise,as follows: 1. One pass with a pneumatic-tired roller. 2. One pass with a vibratory steel roller. 3 Measurement (1)The owner will measure Modified Rubblization by the square yard acceptably completed. Payment (1)The owner will pay for the measured quantity at the contract unit price under the following bid item: DESCRIPTION UNIT Modified Rubblization SY (2) Payment is full compensation for rubblizing; removing exposed steel; rolling;disposing of removed mate- rial and repairing damage to pipes,fixtures,and the adjacent pavement.
