EPA Lead Renovator certification is required for any renovation activities that disturb more than 6 square feet of interior or 20 square feet of exterior paint in residential or child-occupied facilities built before 1978. These activities can create hazardous lead dust when surfaces with lead paint are disturbed. The EPA rule requires workers to be certified and trained in the use of lead-safe work practices, and requires renovation, repair, and painting firms to be EPA-certified. These requirements became fully effective April 22, 2010. To become a certified renovator, individuals must complete a Certified Renovator Initial Training Course accredited by the EPA or an EPA-authorized program which will teach contractors how to utilize lead-safe work practices. EPA certified Renovators must then provide training to other workers (who have not taken the certified renovator training course) on the lead safe work practices to be used in performing their assigned tasks. The EPA certified Renovator must also be physically present at the work site when warning signs are posted, while the work area containment is being established, and while the work area cleaning is performed. The EPA Certified Renovator Initial Training Course must be taught by an EPA certified training provider. The EPA certified training provider teaches the Certified Renovator Initial Training Course in an 8-hour, one day session to train contractors and workers how to utilize lead safe work practices to comply with EPA's Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting Rule. Upon completion of the 8 hour course and successfully passing the exam, the EPA certified training provider will issue the contractor or worker an EPA Certified Renovator certificate. The certificate is valid for 5 years. 23-033 EPA Certified Renovator Initial Training Course.docx Quotation No. 23-033 Page 11 BIDDER SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS Bidders must adhere to all state and federal guidelines and regulations.
