Make the following changes to the plans and specifications or do work not included in the plans and
specifications for this contract. Because of the change(s), ZERO (0) -WORKING DAYS will be added to the
contract time. The date of completion for the Third Order of Work is April 28, 2023.
REPAIR SLOPE EROSION AREA AND RELOCATE EXCESS CLASS 1 ROCK SLOPE PROTECTION —
EXTRA WORK
This change was requested by the engineer.
In accordance with Section 4-1.05, "Changes and Extra Work," of the Standard Specifications, backfill
and compact the native soil in the erosion areas northwest of the new bridge. Install fiber rolls
approximately every 15 feet, relocate the excess Class 1 Rock Slope Protection material from the
concrete W" ditches to the repair areas, and finish by placing straw on any area disturbed by the repair
efforts. Perform the work according to the applicable sections of the Standard Specifications and
Special Provisions. Payment for this work will be made as extra work at Force Account according to
Section 9-1.03, "Payment Scope," of the Special Provisions. Total compensation for this work resulted
in $7,943.28.

DESCRIPTION:
Repair slope erosion area and relocate excess Class 1 Rock Slope Protection — extra work
WHY:
A significant rainstorm caused runoff to erode the native slope northwest of the new bridge, and the
excess Class 1 Rock Slope Protection (RSP) placed within the concrete "V" ditches was found to be
silting-up and causing overflow out of the concrete "V" ditches, eroding the outside edges. The
Special Provisions Section 21-3.03 CONSTRUCTION, states "perform work ordered from the PECE
report". Therefore, it was necessary to repair the erosion areas and relocate the excess RSP to
assist with the erosion repairs as extra work.
HOW:
The contractor was directed to perform this extra work according to Section 4-1.05, "Changes
and Extra Work," of the Standard Specifications. Compensation for this work will be made as
extra work at Force Account according to Section 9-1.03, "Payment Scope," of the Special
Provisions. County staff kept track of labor, equipment and materials used for this work and
calculated the compensation using appropriate markups and surcharges according to Section
9-1.04, "Force Account," of the Standard Specifications; the total compensation resulted in a
$7,943.28 increase.
