Make the following changes to the plans and specifications or do work not in the plans and specifications for
this contract. Because of the change(s), ZERO (0) -WORKING DAYS will be added to the road closure
contract timeline only.
PART I: INSTALL CENTERLINE THERMOPLASTIC TRAFFIC STRIPE AND PAVEMENT MARKINGS—
EXTRA WORK
This extra work was requested by the engineer.
In accordance with Section 4-1.05, "Changes and Extra Work" of the Standard Specifications, install centerline
thermoplastic traffic striping and pavement marking as extra work. The centerline striping consists of
approximately 27,500 LF of Detail 5, 2,600 LF of Detail 18, 175 LF of Detail 21; and pavement marking of 122
SF, consists of 47 LF limit line, one"STOP", and one "STOP AHEAD." Install centerline striping from the
beginning of the project, Sta. 19+87 to the limit line at Madera Avenue. The striping and pavement markings
shall replace the existing striping pattern that currently exists; install stripes with 0.080-inch thickness and the
pavement marking with 0.100-inch thickness. Perform all work in accordance with Section 84-2.03C(2),
"Thermoplastic Traffic Stripes and Pavement Markings," of the Standard Specifications. Install centerline
striping from the beginning of the project, Sta. 19+87 to the limit line at Madera Avenue. Compensation for this
work will be made at an agreed lumpsum price of$27,069.35, according to Section 9-1.03, "Payment Scope,"
of the Special Provisions. This agreed price includes costs for layout, materials, labor, placement, traffic
control, including markups. No additional compensation will be granted for this extra work.
This extra work did not impact the critical path of the project, so additional contract time was not warranted.

PART I - DESCRIPTION:
Install centerline traffic stripes and pavement markings — extra work.
WHY:
This contract included the replacement of the edge stripes with thermoplastic material but did
not include and replacement centerline striping or pavement markings. During construction, the
contractor was allowed to place materials on the existing roadway and blade them into the
narrow gut section. The condition of the existing centerline striping and pavement markings
appeared to have lost reflectivity due to the construction methods allowed. Therefore, it was
necessary to restore the centerline stripes and pavement markings within the project limits as
extra work.
HOW:
The contractor is being directed to perform this extra work according to Section 4-1.05,
"Changes and Extra Work," of the Standard Specifications. Compensation for this work will be
made at an agreed lumpsum price of$27,069.35, according to Section 9-1.03, "Payment
Scope," of the Special Provisions, resulting in an increase of$27,069.35.
COST:
A $27,069.35 Increase
PART II - DESCRIPTION:
Increase items at unit bid prices.

WHY:
Bid Item No. 6, State Water Resources Control Board Notice of Intent Filling Fee was estimated
for an amount of$1,000, however, the actual filing fee was $1,224. Therefore, this bid is being
increased by $224 to compensate for the actual filing fee.
HOW:
Bid Item No. 6 is being increased by $224 according to Section 9-1.06, "Changed Quantity
Payment Adjustments," of the Standard Specifications, resulting in an increase of$224.
COST:
A $224.00 Increase
