HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015C CCO 04.pdf COUNTY OF FRESNO CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT CONTRACT CHANGE ORDER JAMES BYPASS BRIDGE REPLACEMENTS ON MANNING AVENUE CHANGE ORDER NO. 04 3 MILES EAST OF COLORADO AVENUE MARCH 4, 2022 FEDERAL PROJECT NUMBER: BRLS-5942(233) PAGE 1 OF 2 CONTRACT NO. 20-15-C TO: VIKING CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC.: Make the following changes to the plans and specifications or do work not in the plans and specifications for this contract. Because of the change(s), SIXTY-ONE (61) -WORKING DAYS will be added to the contract time. GRANT A TIME EXTENSION TO THE SECOND ORDER OF WORK This time extension was requested by the contractor. Grant a time extension of 61-working days to the Second Order of Work due to changes in the critical path of the project resulted from continuous construction through the flood season in lieu of a contract suspension, according to Section 8-1.07B, "Time Adjustments," of the Special Provisions. In accordance with Section 8- 1.04C(2), "Second Order of Work," of the Special Provisions, "Multiple in-channel seasons may be required if the Central Valley Flood Protection Board does not approve a time variance request and in-channel work has not been completed within the time period defined in section 10-1.03." The CPM Baseline Schedule identified a two-season construction schedule since it was unknown if the time variance permits (TVP) would be approved. Since then, the Central Valley Flood Protection Board has approved the TVPs on a bi-weekly basis to allow the work to proceed. This was not anticipated by the contractor at the start of construction, thus changing certain critical path items on the baseline schedule. As identified (contractor letter dated February 11, 2022), the precast girders became the controlling critical path item, pushing the contract completion date 61-working days under a one-season work schedule. This time extension is being made at the contractor's request, any additional manpower or materials needed, placement of such, will be absorbed by the contractor. The contract time extension of 61-working days will be added with no additional compensation. This will not change the allotted time for the road closure.
